Denmark August 31, 2006

So I’ve made it to Denmark, and a little town named Fakse Ladeplads to be exact. After sleeping in a bomb shelter in Aarhus last night and picking up a cold at Stansted airport in the UK, I’m a little worse for wear, but nonetheless looking forward to my time here. Kim and I are going to a football match between Denmark and Portugal tomorrow in Copenhagen which promises to be amazing. Kim has planned out most of the week for me, so I should be pretty busy. I’m going to put up a post for the British Museum (which I visited on Sunday while still in the UK) once I can upload some pictures.
PS. Danish girls are gorgeous.
Heathrow is a Disaster August 27, 2006

I have arrived in London. Somehow. Lufthansa decided to delay all my flights by 1-2 hours and send my luggage on the wrong aircraft. Heathrow is an absolute mess. I arrived a few hours after a plane destined for Heathrow was turned back after the “suspicious behavior” of one of the passengers. So many people were losing their luggage due to the ridiculous security restrictions. Anyway, made a tour of the important tourist spots in London today – London Tower, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, Big Ben and Parliament, Westminster Abby, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Downing Street, and Buckingham Palace. That’s a lot of bloody walking. I’ll post some pictures when I get some downtime. Tomorrow I’m going up to Cambridge with Pippa’s family for a tour, and the day after I hope to meet up with some relatives in London. That should keep me fairly busy until I have to leave again Wednesday night for Aarhus.
Not enough time to be nervous August 22, 2006

Time flies…It’s only a few days before I leave to London, but there seems like so much left to do before I go. I am really anxious to get this under way – I’ve been waiting for this ever since I came home from Thailand two years ago
As for the details, I am heading to London on August 25 for a week before heading to Aarhus, Denmark, for another week. I fly to Ankara, Turkey on September 6, where I will begin orientation at the Middle Eastern Technical University (METU). I will be going to school there for the academic year and probably won’t be home until July 2007 at the earliest.
Seems wild, I know. I’ll do my best to keep this blog updated with stories of my travel mishaps and photos (which are linked to an outside site). There’s really no telling the kind of trouble I can get myself into. I’d like to take a few side trips to the Ukraine and Iran if I can. I also wanted to visit Beirut, but someone decided to go and blow up their airport… Either way, I’ll do my best to keep everyone up to date.
